What would you say to the argument that intervention will just breed more violence, that it's fighting fire with fire? Though I don't know much, it's obvious that there isn't much of an alternative in Syria...but do you think physical opposition is capable of accomplishing peace?

I often speak to homeless people on streets of New York City. Some have told me that they actually prefer living on the streets to working a minimum-wage job, and most have either mental health or drug addiction issues.

I understand that those with psychological problems and drug addictions are much more likely to wind up on the streets. How much of homelessness do you think is due to such issues, and how much do you think is due to inadequate housing and employment?
