hello :) i have also cured my ptsd with the help of mdma, although without professional assistance, just on my own and therefore probably not as effectively. i wanted to hear your input on why you believe this is so effective, i've done research (even a research paper on illicit drugs treating ptsd!) but it's still a bit of a mystery as to why mdma works so well. do you think it's the flood of dopamine/serotonin/etc or the ability to be open and honest and view your problems in a more positive light?

thanks and good luck with your ptsd-free future :)

i'm so glad you mentioned you're speaking to the media!! ptsd is so horrific and treatment is so possible, the law and perception of illicit substances are just standing in the way. you're awesome, keep on telling your story!

You're seriously not going to finish that...?

i'm just going to say, that this is totally dependent on the person. he had very severe ptsd that was being masked with substance abuse, i don't think there's any doubt that the clinical setting and presence of professionals was integral to the success of his treatment. for me, i had relatively mild ptsd from three specific traumatic incidences, it was far easier for me to use mdma and introspect or talk to a friend than it would have been for him or any other veteran.

i just feel the need to throw in my 2 cents because while mdma did help me a lot, i don't think i used it correctly and i believe that if i had gone this route my healing process would have been far shorter and more effective. i saw how much mdma can help but never used it to its full potential, he did. so what i'm saying is that outside of a clinical setting, just conversing with close friends or family or whoever you trust, mdma can absolutely help. nowhere near as much as it would with professionals with years of experience with the substance and the psychological issues.

same to you and thank you for the reply! it was essentially what i expected to hear but i've never heard straight from someone who has actually been through mdma assisted therapy with a professional. the comparison is totally accurate, healing yourself of ptsd is like completely relearning what it is to be a human being and how to interact with other ones.

thanks for doing this ama, it's a really important topic :)
