I know you said your daughter 'became a recluse' after the shooting- Can you elaborate a bit more on how she perceived the whole incident? Did you have to explain to her that it was an accident or have to explain other difficult subjects?

Did she retain her friendships well throughout her recovery (which I understand is necessarily on-going) and "after"?

Was July 4th difficult, or have you had any issues with television/movies depicting mild violence?

I can't even begin to imagine the pain your family has had thrust upon you all. I'm glad to hear you have experienced some headway since your move!

Another stripper (left the biz fairly recently) checking in:

Loved dancing and being someone's fantasy for the evening. The money was amazing for the time I put in (~20 hrs/wk). No schedule meant that I had weeks where I just didn't feel like working and didn't have to and still paid my bills and had money to blow.

As a side note- it's good to have that weird skill set available to you when you are in between jobs. My career has always been sales and in any sales job there are seasons where shit is just rough or the company is bought out and changes are made (they fire you.) The first thing they teach you in sales is to sell yourself- which, for obvious reasons, easily translates to the strip club. I've never had to worry about money and that feeling is priceless.

To be fair- I could never dance for long stretches of time. I've done it on-and-off over 6 years, but only 3-4 months stretches. There are some crazy fucking bitches that dance and the mentality that envelopes a club is one that you absolutely never want to internalize.

Edit: Some women- the 'true high-earners' that OP was talking about- can just shut out all the gossip and pettiness, and thievery and make a great investment in themselves long-term. I've known myself to be incapable of that. I end up irritable, not appropriately trusting people, and I let club shit get to me when I'm outside of the club. So I leave when the symptoms show up.
