How long will you be in Laos for? Would you be willing to traveling outside of the capital to a place like Sam Nuea? Also, do you speak Lao?

My mother's side of the family left decades ago, but my father's side is still there and relatively well connected. I did not have any issues getting an up-close "tour" when I was last there.

Although to be honest, I am not sure of the state and funding of UXO Laos right now. The last time there, the director of the program told me they only had enough guaranteed funding for another year. Maybe I can help out?

What kind of volunteer work are you looking for? My experience with the UN UXO were in north east Laos, not really around the capital. My (uncle) father's brother is the UN director there, I can inquire if you like.

Is working de-mining the fields what you want to do? Or something safer?
