Well if you're a minor, you can actually be placed in one by your parents and there's usually nothing you can do about it.

I was placed in a crisis unit because my step mother was an evil bitch and I had to to the minimum of 7 days after I was admitted despite my numerous psychiatrists comments that I was fine and didn't need to be there.

So yeah, you can actually get placed in a psych ward by "mistake" if you're a minor... But not usually for very long. In my sate it's 7 days minimum, in others it's 3.

First off I am very sorry for your loss.

I have two questions. What should you say to someone who has lost someone close to them when trying to consolidate them? I feel like "im sorry" or "things get better" are so cliche. & as someone who's never lost anyone really close to me, how should I prep for my older family members dying in the next few years? What is it like to have someone that close to you die?
