But Boy Scouts, from what I hear, get to go camping. In my experience with Girl Scouts not once did anyone take us camping. I’m not even joking. I always felt like Boy Scouts sounded far better tbh.

I agree with this. I wanted to learn actual skills be a badass in the woods. I wanted to be dropped in the wilderness with nothing but a pen knife and my Lisa Frank trapper keeper and emerge shaken but triumphant like a small Bear Grylls. Instead I earned badges for doing makeovers, planting flowers, and learning to knit.

Our troop leaders wouldn’t tolerate any of that. They were adults who weren’t going to take feedback from children. That was considered whining and being disrespectful. It wasn’t a democracy. That’s funny to even think about. They weren’t there to cater to what we wanted or to entertain us. They were there to supervise an after school activity they probably didn’t really want to be doing. If we complained that we wanted to do something else they’d berate us for being ungrateful or they’d offer the job to someone else’s parents or they’d tell us we could’ve sold more cookies to earn our camping trip. We told we were lucky to have a troop at all and maybe next year we’d go camping if we earned it or whatever. All I know is my experience with being a Girl Scout, I’m not trying to rag on them as an organization. I have no way of knowing what’s considered standard. I assumed my troop was about average.

Serious question, does anyone at school make fun of you for still being in Girl Scouts? I quit when I was 11/12 because it wasn’t considered cool and it was seen as being something you did if you were immature. I quit because I felt like the association was demeaning. I also remember my troop members being pretty snobby and there was a lot of silly competition over badges and cookie sales that it wasn’t fun for very long. Cookie moms were nightmarish. I think of how “lame and baby-ish” it was to be a girl scout when I was 11 I can only imagine how mean high schoolers would be about it.
