What are you trying to do with your career?

I'm also self taught but now I code in any stack or language. I've worked in different industries, most recently AR. I decided after a couple years to get a CS degree and it was soooooo much easier learning higher level concepts when you already have a foundation of working through difficult problems. Most people can't code because they simply don't want to spend the time figuring out why something isn't working. If you love it, I'd suggest getting a degree but you don't need it.

Do you want to make games for a living?

You can make more complicated games in unity or unreal.

Do you want to ensure you still have a job in 5 years?

Start learning more about the underlying principles of languages and it'll make switching to something like typescript a lot easier and will ensure you always have a job

Awesome!!!! We need more women in our field. I went back to school at 31 so it's never too late. And yes, learning the advanced CS stuff is so friggin' cool. Take loans out if you need to and don't worry about it because you'll have a job that can actually pay them off.

I worked with a guy once that could have retired in the 80s and when I asked him why he's still working he simply said, I love to code. That's me too and I love knowing that I can work as long as I stay current. You just can't beat the feeling of building something from nothing. I still want to high five someone after my code compiles or works correctly the first time.

Lmk if you ever have any questions!! I was so heavily bullied by friends who had been making websites since high school. Now, they ask me questions because I actually love CS and learned the hard stuff while they can still only make a website.
