Or just go to the Tibetan parts of the rest of China. Southern Qinghai and Western Sichuan are incredible. There were towns there that we found very few people who spoke Mandarin. It was all Tibetan. 色达五明佛学院 is in Sichuan, and it is an incredible little Tibetan town. Google it for some crazy photos.

This all sounds amazing. From the picture, I imagine it was heated by a wood fireplace? I'm not super familiar with N California, but I imagine the winters weren't cold enough to worry about? Did anyone in your family hunt/trap for food? Did you learn enough from your parents that you would be comfortable building your own house?

I'm not a brewer, I'm a baker. I have some recipes that I'd love to try to make into beer flavours. What sorts of things should I do or know before I approach a brewer with a recipe in order to make it as compatible with the chemistry of brewing?
