I just went to glacier national Park. The lakes there are all from glacier melt not even a quarter mile away sometimes. Iceberg Lake literally has ice floating in it. Friend if mine jumped in a few times. Said it feels like someone hitting you with a baseball bat in the chest. I tried walking in. Got up to my calf before I noped out after less than 10 seconds. It is indeed painful. Maybe I'm just a bitch. In either case, nope for me!

This is pretty cool. When i go-to a NP my goal is to get away from people. It's really cool how in most parks you're only a 60 minute walk away from pure isolation, especially if you know where you're going.

Going to Grand Canyon? 90% of visitors never made it two miles off the Rim. Going to Glacier? There's over 700 miles of marked trails and tons more of unmarked trails. I can go on and on. I fully disagree with closing the parks as ling as we keep to the basic ideal if keeping people away from each other. Close the visitor centers, close the gift stores, the convenient stores, the campgrounds, etc...
