A deaf person is not a worse or less worthy person, but being deaf is, objectively, worse than not being deaf. You lack one key sensory input, how can one say that's not a disadvantage?

Is there any hope for him? One psychiatrist said there's a ~90% chance he'll never be able to live on his own. Do you think that's accurate?

No offense and I know you just wish for things to turn out well, but if you think a random internet stranger can tell you better than a psychiatrist who actually dealt with the patient, you are grasping at straws. That being said, statistics know nothing about the exact situation at hand, in particular in medicine.

Maybe I'm a bit naïve, but that sounds like putting them into US prisons is a pretty shitty idea then. What do you think are the reasons for the striking differences of recidivism in, say, Norway and the US?

For me the most striking thing was that they actively searched for people to participate in a simulated prison experience. I'd think that would draw in more sadists than usual, no?
