Yes, it is entirely possible. I work in fashion, but I can't afford my taste, so I do things like this all the time. People are constantly surprised at where I bought my clothes. I get asked all the time. It really comes down to taste and styling ability. If you need to taper or hem your jeans a bit, do it!!! If they look a million times better, why wouldn't you? It really does not cost a lot and you will end up getting more use out of that item because it fits better than it would have otherwise, and you end up spending even less money.
