I live in a rural area with FTTC but slow, unreliable copper wiring to the premise and would like to get FTTP installed. Some questions:

  • Is there a public map or ordered list of areas that will have full fibre to the premises delivered?
  • As we own some of the land, can we dig and install the fibre cabling ourselves and have Openreach connect it to the cabinet?
  • What do you think of the Openreach Community Partnership program? Does that support FTTP and what is a rough cost per household?

Many thanks.

That's really encouraging to hear! I'd love to know a bit more about it if you have some time (you can also DM me).

  • How long did it take to get installed?
  • Is that £3500 for the full first year or installation only?
  • How can I find out more about the government grants?
  • Do you know if your line is limited to 330/30Mbps or will it eventually be able to support symmetrical gigabit for example?

Thanks for letting me know it's possible!

In theory, do trees live forever? By that I mean no disease, wildfires or logging etc. but left to grow. Will a tree continue growing (and sequestering carbon dioxide) forever or do trees have a limit before dying?

Interesting - thanks!!

Is the 100 GtC sequestration annually or in total if maximum tree coverage was used? If in total, how long would we take to reach that point?

Do you think the capacity of reforestation is enough to stop and reverse the climate crisis or will we need to employ other - possibly man-made - efforts such as direct air capture and storage to keep things under control?

Thanks for all the work you do.
