I somewhat agree, but you could also add element that the returner has to make a decision as to whether the ball will roll out or stay in bounds in certain situations. Does he risk waiting to see if it goes out of bounds and risk a possible onside recovery and therefore a touchdown, or does he risk returning it and giving up a single point. Just toying with the idea.

Has the rule committee every considered a change to the single point rule where a non-returnable ball does not count as a single point? For example team A punts the ball through the end-zone, or a missed FG sails through the end-zone. Basically perhaps a single point should only be rewarded if team b plays the ball, and is unable to exit their own end-zone. Has this ever been discussed?

I love the rouge, and it needs to remain, but I would like to see that tweak.
