Iirc, the "10,000 hour rule" is based on a study of elite cellists, but the study was deeply flawed. There is so much self selection bias, it was a tiny study, and you can't just expand the relevance of the conclusion to other activities.

You need a lot of money to live like you guys. A 2 person farm doesn't work anymore. Either you had money and no debt or one of you has an actual job, making this just a lifestyle choice and not a realistic option for most.
