The idea is noble and even doable!

However, I think a factor that hasn't been mentioned is simple; jobs.

The private and public universities across the U.S. provide MILLIONS of jobs. What fills the payroll gap for these normal, middle-class employees when universities can no longer rely on Title IV funding?

Not possible for you to buy your own debt outright.

However, one could theoretically by your debt for you, but that could be labor intensive as the purchaser would be combing through various collectors to try to pin-point a certain debt portfolio that includes your specific sum.

This could be accomplished from the creation of some database filter to identify certain identity traits within portfolios; but then we get into a specified service being necessary to "find" an individual debt. Services like that generally come with a price tag (but it may ultimately be cheaper to the end user than paying the debt normally).
