I'm wondering the same thing and would like an answer. If she had her face covered, and couldn't lip read, and heard spoken English for the first time, how would she know what the lady was saying? Wouldn't you kind of have to learn English? I'm so baffled!

The consensus in the mouse community is that kiln-dried pine is suitable since the phenols are removed in the drying process. This is coming from the intensely zealous mouse people on thefunmouse.com. What are you thoughts? I've used it with no noticeable issue in mouse keeping for years.

Fair enough! I'm not sure how smelly hamsters are off hand, I haven't had them since I was a child, but paper bedding for mice has horrible odor absorption. One time I did a stint with sterilized potting soil for mice and I only had to clean the cage once a month since the soil neutralized the ammonia. Have you heard about that for hamsters also?

I think in a research setting a cage with bars would allow for better ventilation given the volume of animals being kept. For normal owners tanks can be just fine. Although I had a mouse with a chronic URI and had to switch her to a ventilated cage.

Hi Gary,

I would like to take on a low carb lifestyle but it seems so daunting. I cherish my sugar and white flour. Deeply and truly. But I know they're ruining my health. What are your thoughts on carb or sugar addiction and how to overcome it? What resources and support are there?

Thank you for your important work.
