It's... not terribly ambiguous. The bits of backstory we have rather strongly imply that Caroline was REALLY PISSED at being forced into the machine.

Rather than "female kerbals" I'd like feminine names, and feminine (and more than one masculine) hairstyles... and no attempt what so ever to make those match, because Max Fightmaster-Kerman with carefully braided hair and Susemone Kerman with a buzz cut are funny.

The problem most people object to isn't cheesecake, it's that every woman is only cheesecake. Wayforward's girls tend to have a strong characterization beyond being attractive, which sets them apart in my mind.

(Well, there's also lack of beefcake, but that's another discussion :P)
