As someone who eats meat, I think the way you are approaching this issue is exceptional. Too often, animal rights activists come across as abrasive, smug, and elitist (imo) and I think it does more to hurt the cause than help it. Making me feel like a jerk for eating meat will not make me want to help, but engaging in civilized dialog fosters respect and willingness to listen. I agree that consumers will back products that lessen cruelty to animals if there are realistic solutions. All things being equal, I'd say that most people would prefer more humane treatment of animals raised for their food. I guess my point is... Bravo to you for being civil.
