There's a long history between the Vietnamese and the Cambodians. It's interesting to hear that point of view. The Cambodian view as I heard people say it was that the Vietnamese were silent with the genocide and instability until the Khmer Rouge started encroaching on the borders and trying to take the land that the Cambodians "rightfully owned".

Since Cambodia was an ally of the Chinese, and since the Vietnamese hates the Chinese, the Vietnamese government decided that it's in their interests to curtail the influence. The Vietnamese fought back and set up a government that was aligned with Vietnamese interests instead of the Chinese.

So yes, the Vietnamese invasion stopped the genocide. But if Vietnam actually wanted to be a GGV, they would have stopped the Khmer Rouge from killing the Cambodians (their own people) beforehand. It's the same Vietnamese tactics that caused Cambodian land to slowly cede to the Vietnamese (see South Vietnam). It's a good guy with ulterior motives, but hey, all governments seem to do that :-).

That's the opinion that I've heard. I see small truths to the different point of views. I have good friends that are Viet and it's amazing to see the different sides of the coin.

FYI, if you ever want to read reviews to determine which series to watch, check out http://www.spcnet.tv/reviews-tvb-series-titles.html. I wish we had this back in the day. I learned to speak and understand Khmer better from watching those Chinese movies.

I think nowadays, people in Cambodia watch a lot of dubbed Korean movies and dubbed mainland Chinese movies. There's reviews for those movies/series too.
