For a country that is so desperately in need of foreign money I'm going to have to discourage my fellow redditors from visiting. I too, had the chance to go when I was in Northern China but I found it too morally incomprehensible. The fact that North Korea requires that you stay in a tour during your visit means most (if not all) of your money goes into suppoting the regime.

If you REALLY want to visit a communist state before they are gone I recommend Cuba or Belarus. Both countries seem like beacons of freedom compared to North Korea. Aside from selfish bragging rights, I do not understand this fascination with travelors wanting to visit this country that in 2012 STILL has concentration camps. If you disagree with my opinion please enlighten me.

Edit 2: A lot of people are questioning the validity of this AMA. One of the reasons OP's experiences seem so similiar to previous AMA's, articles you've read, etc is because he took the same god damn tour as everyone else!

Baijiu always seems to give me some kind of throat infection. It would leave my throat dry and 不舒服. This might be more of a hard liquor problem than a Bajiu problem but I never had this issue with Vodka and I drank that shit straight (nor with 151).
