Can you give me your thoughts on why you think irony is such a valued vehicle of expression for contemporary art?
Rirkrit is quoted as saying, "I like positive irony. Irony can create new metaphors, and I find that interesting."
I can get behind the idea of "positive irony," but I am often perplexed by the establishment's infatuation with disaffectation, and it's fear of meaning. Why is an honest gesture often reviled or shunned while one that fetishisizes the elision of meaning often coveted?

It seems like a year's worth of work. I think that's more than the average American earns for a year's worth of work, plus she kept her regular job as well so it seems like a decent compensation.
