My Mom actually fell for one of these Nigerian romance scams. He (or they) managed to get about 2 grand from her. Which os a huge deal because my family has always lived paycheck to paycheck.

Took me and my family weeks to convince her it was a scam. Took me months of research and every reverse image search imaginable before I found definitive proof.

My Mom passed away about a year later from a stroke. The scammer still tries to contact her to this day.

I can definitely sympathize. If my family was starving along with literally everyone else in my community, I would definitely do some dirt if it meant literally surviving. Because honestly, what's the alternative? Die? It's our most primal driving force; survival.
