What are your thoughts on long term use of sleep aids such as Ambien? I've been on it for years and am certain I've developed a dependency, but not sure how to quit.

As a paramedic, I have no problem responding to trauma and other critical events. Once though, I saw a women get hit by a car and it seriously messed me up. I was frozen in horror and it took me a few moments to re-gain my composure and get to work on her. That was almost 20 years ago and it still haunts me. She died soon after from massive head trauma.

I've been on it for well over 10 years. Can you tell me what you did to get off of it?

This just got interesting. I'd be interested in hearing a response to this.
