McDonald's in Japan isn't really seen as high dining, but it's not really considered low tier food, either. It might be on the level of Starbucks in other places, in terms of "Yeah that place is great, and I'll go there sometimes, but it's obviously not the best." And then you have others who swear by it, and others who hate it.
