"Vigilance of Israeli intelligence services" aside, the rule for no political involvement applies only for soldiers in active duty (as it does in any democracy) so this is a non-issue, as is OP's faux-brave "fuck the army's rules".

Most Israelis served in the IDF, and obviously this rule doesn't apply to them - as anyone who spent 10 seconds in Israel will notice.

BTW, OP is making a bunch of inaccurate statements throughout this AMA, eg that Israelis Arabs can't enlist. Actually they are not obligated, but they can and do volunteer: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Israel_Defense_Forces#Minorities_in_the_IDF

How do you define Palestine, geographically - do you consider it to be the West Bank + Gaza or the entire territory between Jordan and the Med?

Er, maybe the Palestinian side also bears some of the responsibility here?

You know, Arafat enabling the Hamas suicide bombings in the '90s and turning down Barak's offer in 2001, or Palestinians voting Hamas into power just after the Gaza Disengagement, or Abbas turning down Olmert's offer in 2008?

Putting it all on Likud is rather simplistic, especially considering that Labor and Kadima headed governments as well to no better results.

[Edit: Writing this as an Israeli who supports a two state solution with an independent Palestine in the entire West Bank + Gaza]

That's why it's so hilarious/sad when people ask her about the "Western media" accuracy. Because the channel funded by the Qatari ruling family is where you go for accurate, unbiased reporting on the Middle East.
