I've got a Li-ion in one of my motorcycles. Much smaller and lighter than lead-acid but way more expensive. I just got it, but I'd bet that even lifetime costs are higher by a fair amount.

I think that this is a perception issue that will change over time. I'm a "petrol head" but have ridden some really cool and fast electric motorcycles. The newest Zero SR, for example, has more torque than nearly all gasoline motorcycles. It is a total hoot to drive.
I also interviewed an EV motorcycle drag racer that has run seven second quarter miles-very respectable times.
I'm personally convinced that EVs will surpass gas vehicles quite quickly from a performance perspective. The biggest hurdle right now is the battery. But even now perceptions are changing. Harley Davidson is mulling an electric motorcycle. BMW is now vested. EVs will be very cool by the end of this decade.

I ride motorcycles all around the country and I just wanted to say that I admire and respect truck drivers immensely. I feel safer sharing the road with them than minivans and SUVs. Truck drivers are less distracted, follow the rules of the road, and seem very aware and considerate of me and my motorcycle.
So thanks.
And now a question-do many of you ride motorcycles? And is that why truck drivers are careful around motorcycles or is it something else? I know one driving couple that gets on their bike as soon as they get home.
