Why do teachers think they are any different than the rest of America's work force?

Everyone else has to work. The checkout clerks at Costco probably see more unique individuals in a day than teachers.

Thank you for the additional context. Public officials should be responsible to provide the safest reasonable learning and working environment possible.

Masks should definitely be a requirement. Possibly grouping students to similar classes could be assigned a home room and teachers could rotate classrooms instead of the students.

Right, wrong or indifferent, the public school system serves as child care for working adults. Students learning remotely is not an option for working families.
