What if the person turns out to be a real asshole? What if they have taking up heavy smoking/drinking or some other behavior that will likely shorten their life - wouldn't you feel like you child's organ was sort of "wasted"?

I'm not saying you had anything to do with it, but if you were to design a system that allowed someone to send covert signals to someone during a chess game, how would you go about doing that?
