My 3 month old daughter has fibular hemimelia (short, not missing) and a clubbed foot on the left. Her other leg is totally normal. Sometimes I get overwhelmed thinking about everything she's going to have to fight through, and I worry about her getting teased at school. Thank you so much for your story, I teared up learning that you do martial arts. Thank you for giving me some hope that my daughter can live an active and normal life. My question is...how much shorter was your left leg that they decided to go ahead and amputate rather than use adaptive devices?

Any advice you could give me to help my daughter would he much appreciated. :-)

Thank you so much for such an amazing reply. You're awesome. We went through casting for the clubbed foot and she's in braces now. She's missing 2 toes on that foot and her leg is smaller, but it doesn't appear to be too much shorter. I'll do whatever the doctors think is best, but I don't think amputation is in our future.

We still have dreams that she'll be Olympic gold medal winning goalie for the USA, and we'll help her pursue any dreams she has. I never knew how strong a mother's love could be until this beautiful little lady came into my life.

Thank you again for your kind reply...you have given me much hope and many smiles. :-)

I have been dealing with CRPS in my right leg for a little over a year, after a "mistake" during a partial knee replacement. It is awful, and I have little to no pain relief. Radiofrequency blocks work, but not for long. I'm on 3600 mg of Gabapentin per day. I'm only 35, and it depresses me so much that there are so many things I used to be able to do but can't now. My question to you...when the pain is awful and all seems lost, what keeps you from the crippling depression that so many of us feel??
