We live in Texas and had to spend a few days away during the winter storm in a family members house and my dog slept non crated. When we returned, it was back to normal for a couple days, then he decided crates weren't for him. He would often crate himself. We put him in a crate because if he has the run of the house at night he will end up barking at any little activity he senses/sees...

My dog has happily slept in his crate at night for the last 7 years. This week he decided he no longer wants to sleep in his crate and will bark continuously until we let him out. I have cleaned the crate and all the bedding. Any idea what this means? Any suggestions on how to get him to sleep on the crate?
