Writing a physical letter requires money and also sharing your personal address which some people might not want to do. This is kind of like a simulated letter-writing experience using modern technology.

You might wonder why someone would bother with a less advanced form of communication. As others have said, it's like a fun throwback to an old-fashioned aesthetic. Similar to today's renewed appeal for rotary phones and polaroid cameras. You're kind of right that it is a novelty.

But if that seems too superficial, another reason to consider is that because it take so much longer to receive a message back, people take more time to write out a long thought-out letter as opposed to in email where it might just be a few lines at a time.

I feel like the age should be a lot older for people to make an account. If a child wants to participate, they should need an adult to sign up for them.
