Is it true that most of the acts that ended up playing Woodstock 1969 weren't actually scheduled to play and that they just kinda showed up?

First off, thanks for everything that you do. From your incredible design work to all of the music you have put out over the past few years. Dive will always hold a special significance to me. Now to my question; it's pretty noticeable just how much the sound of Tycho has changed over the course of the past few albums. From the sounds of past is prologue all the way to the newer, post rock, sound of awake. As a tremendous fan of the earlier work, and ever so slightly hesitant about the new direction, what was the reasoning for this gradual shift in sound over time? Would you consider it a natural progression, or movement in a new direction?

Bonus question, as a surfer and man of the ocean, it seems that so much of your music is inspired by the sea. Do you surf?
