it's a fun show, but what it gets right about Vikings is that people lived in Scandinavia at the time. That's about it. Names, places, clothing, weapons, armor, religion, and countless other things are just so far off that I wouldn't even call the show Vikings.

That said, I enjoy the show. It's just not very accurate and takes a lot of creative liberties due to some of lack records of the time.

Hello and thank you for your time.

What is your advice for prospective students of the Viking Era and the liberal arts field in general? I have a BS in history with a focus on the Viking Era but, as much as I love the subject matter, I felt it would be irresponsible to pursue grad school. What is your take on that? My apologies for the broad question.

Thanks for the perspective, I didn't realize you currently don't work in academia. It's great that you were able to publish your work.

My fear is that, if I go to grad school, the best most likely scenario is to be an adjunct for an extended period, which is not all that appealing.

But I haven't ruled anything out! Thanks again and best of luck, maybe we'll collaborate on something in the future!

And do you believe there us any possibility of truth in that, or is it pure propaganda?

I recall feeling that was from my visit to Iceland last year. It's an amazing place, but it's so tiny and so closed off to itself for at least half the year...

The natives told me that they often go on vacations for the worst months of winter.
