That has been my number one curiosity. What is it like to be a 'person of color' with albinism? I read all of those horrible stories about African albinos being slaughtered for their 'magical' properties. I can't even imagine. I realize your situation is very different, but do you face any stigma or cultural projections?

Thank you for sharing that (about the baby food). I'm so sorry that things went that far for you.

Recovering from homelessness is hard. A man I deeply cared for could not have legs on his furniture for the longest time or would sleep on the floor due to disorientation while he was recovering. It manifests in so many different ways and it's so inspiring to see such a positive story as yours. Thank you for sharing with us.

Eskimo jokes- do they piss you or your peers off or do you consider them racist?

I do, just wondering what the general consensus is to the Inuit population?

I wish you the best. I completely understand why you chose brain surgery and radiation. My son actually had to have total cranial irradiation as well. I'm sure you've heard of all of the risks and side effects of total cranial irradiation including somnolence syndrome. I would hate to see you have any of your precious time wasted by somnolence syndrome.

Acetyl L-carnitine was recommended to us to prevent radiation fatigue and cochlear damage. Apparently there's been some promising studies. My son took it and he had no somnolence syndrome and to date 4 years later has experienced no hearing loss or other radiation typical problems.

Just thought if you hadn't heard of it you might appreciate a shout out. I wish you and your family the best.

Question: Are you Masking?

A lot of Autistics find themselves in a similar position to yours where they become essentially an 'expert' at reading people. It's not terribly uncommon- especially in those that may have experienced trauma- and in fact it can become invasive and cause meltdowns. So-called hyper-empathy or a hyper-awareness of body language, vocal inflection, societal rules etc. tends to manifest in a lot of Autistics, women especially. Many Autistics (and I don't use functioning labels because even the supposed high-functioning autistic can be so-called low functioning and then high-functioning again depending on the circumstances, and vice versa) mask their Autism and will even take on the characteristics of those around them in order to fit in.

How is what you're doing any different than this? This is a manifestation of Autism.
