Our racism doesn't come from a superiority complex like western white racism (except for the right wing crazies). Japanese culture is like a thousand unwritten rules and no Japanese person will ever expect a foreigner to understand them. Japanese people will never be 100% comfortable around foreigners. It's not so much that they dislike foreigners but that the comfort level between Japanese people is so high and Japanese people will treat you different if they can't have that level of comfort. I'm native Japanese but I grew up entirely in the USA. I never got the weird looks but people 100% treated me differently because I wouldn't get certain societal values.

Also Japan is an insanely collectivist society, Western individualistic culture is like oil and water to it.

I'm stuck in a miserable deadbeat corporate job.

How do I find work in the design part of games? My skills include not being technologically illiterate, native level Japanese, native level English, and a bachelor's degree from a US college.

Has FB made it harder to get another job in the industry at all? Are you just completely doomed now because you've shown you're willing to do the right thing, and companies want NONE of that?
