OP, I am grateful that you have chosen not to remain politically free because you have helped me understand some things regarding this election that I had not previously considered. Up to this point, I had pretty much made up my mind not to vote in this election. I am a strong supporter of our Constitution and the rights it affords me, and try not to take those rights for granted. The idea of not voting pains me, but being able to be at peace with all my decisions, and the repercussions of my decisions, is extremely important to me. Until reading your words, I had not realized the extent to which I was expecting perfection in the candidate I am considering. I had not given this person the same level of forgiveness I have asked for when looking at my own tendency to fall prey to negative influences, nor had I given much weight to her willingness to change. I have a lot to think about, but I am now looking at this very difficult decision much differently.

Thank you, I really appreciate that. Your support means more to me than being gilded, this has been a really difficult decision for me because I know not voting isn't a good choice.

Also, I'm cheap, too. :)

I do live in a red state.

Bonus: I'm originally from Brooklyn, NY.

Super bonus: I'm also queer.

Thank you for the gold.

I have to agree, too, that the issues of current times are not "nothing" in comparison to the cold war, which at 54, I remember well. In many ways, the issues we face today, especially regarding the Presidential candidates, frightens me more than the cold war. During the cold war, the enemy was a foreign entity. The issues we face today could escalate to civil war or genocide. The notion of living across the street from the enemy frightens me more than the notion of living across the ocean from the enemy.
