After the first 2 or 3 notes, did you ever think you might get crowd-trolled with the "The Promise"?

Because that's what my brain heard from the first few notes sounded.

Argh! This is my life. I have too many unfinished songs because I get caught up in what serves the song best.

I get to a point where the arrangement is really good, I'm swelling up inside, I make some EQ cuts, It's really flowing! The pieces are working together! There's some accidental counterpoint in there, when did I do that? Sounds great! ....and then when it's time to write some lyrics and a melody I hate everything.

I have a graveyard of songs.

When you say take a step back, I put the song down and leave it there for years.

I feel I get a song complete faster when the lyrics come to me first, because they usually have a melody attached. I can hear the chord/bass progression already, and the beat is implied.

But for everything else, I struggle so hard with judgement of my own melodies and lyrics.

Any words of wisdom, good sir?
