Thank you for working so diligently on this story. As a journalist myself, I have to ask: Did you get any feeling that the media's presence was exacerbating the situation in Ferguson, especially when they begin to outnumber actual protestors? Or have you been concerned about the way any journalists have been behaving there? We've been hearing some disturbing reports, and I wondered how prevalent the misbehavior actually is, or if it's just a few singular episodes that have captured more attention than they deserve.

We don't know that the officer was black, actually (that information has never been revealed, and the repeated misinformation comes from the only statement made that he "wasn't white" -- in the area where it was reported, Utah, it's actually much more likely he was Hispanic than black, as African Americans are a rarity even in Salt Lake City, a region I know well from having lived there myself), and the young man Dillon Taylor wasn't white--he self-identified as Hispanic. So what we're possibly talking about is actually a Hispanic-on-Hispanic shooting. Taylor was, however, unarmed, and that is always worthy of investigation. Due process is still supposed to be paramount in this country. Still, I bristle at the idea of trying to use this incident as a reason not to be upset about Michael Brown's shooting.

She. Yamiche is a she. (Sorry, a lot of people have been making this mistake). But yes, I agree, her response seemed pretty straightforward.
