I can't tell you why it's not allowed, but I completely disagree. I'd probably raise the age limit from which it's allowed compared to men (from 10-13yo, depends on the country). I used to play hockey and can tell you almost every female player would love to be allow to hit.

While fighting, one player fell off and the other kicked him in the stomach. He got a match penalty and an automatic suspension for 1 game.

I definitely get way more shit from parents/coaches as female ref for making the same call as my male colleague would get. But you get used to it.

I've never officiated adult men's league games, but from my experience the little kids are the worst because of their parents and the fact that they can't hit. So basically every time their kid falls I'm getting yelled at.

I never thought about it, but that's a good idea.
