That sounds very, very like many of the alternative medicine things out there that don't actually work at any more than a psychological level. I'm very skeptical of it. It's important to note that there is a large learning component of Tourette's, and it's not just a matter of your nervous system making you do things due to bad wiring. It's even capitalised on in treatments such as Habit Reversal Training. Tics can be sensitive to context changes, or even arbitrary stimulus changes. Some people find that in certain contexts or when wearing certain items they don't have tics at all. For example, in a documentary I saw once there was a boy whose tics would disappear when he was wearing rollerblades. I suspect that the device in this video fuctions in a similar way the rollerblades did for the boy in the documentary. I think it's very unlikely that this is the result of pressure interacting with his nervous system, as the presenter in the video claims.

Edit: It's important as well to note that TEDx events are independent of TED events, and that this means that more presentations with low scientific fidelity can occur during these events.

Did you notice how thin the crowd was when you jumped? I was there, not too far away, and remember fearing for your life because there was space enough for people to potentially be able to move away from your landing spot and let you land straight on the floor.

Sorry, I know you probably have getting questions on it! It was just so mind-blowing, I was surprised that you didn't say you jumped because you were on something.

I'm upvoting you whether you're being sarcastic or not.
