I think you're missing his point! What if it had the same orbital period as our own planet? It would remain hidden from us as we moved, because it would move too, at the same rate.

The eclipse happens at the same time no matter where you are in the world. It will start at 2:06am eastern, with greatest eclipse at 2:45am eastern

Can you suggest any basic intro material for the Moon and its orbit? It's surprising the number of people who don't understand the simple mechanics of it - like what the cycle is (e.g. think it is the earth's shadow), when and why it occurs (e.g. people asking if someone in China can see the same phase of the moon as someone in the US).

Where does the majority of your funding come from? Do you inform business somehow - is there some profit-driven motive for the kinds of planetary science you guys are doing?
