Are there plans for a standalone desktop version of Card Hunter? As a person with a terribly slow home internet connection it has been impossible to play the game in my browser.

I'm not asking for anything special here. They didn't outright cancel that version. In fact they explicitly say they are not discontinuing it and that it will receive updates. Should I have assumed they were lying about that? The way I see it, I am cutting them some slack.

Have you looked into GOG Galaxy? It has/will have many of the same benefits Steam integration has brought to Tabletop Simulator and might be a way for you to bring back the DRM-free version without losing as many features.
