The idea of "ecological enrichment through extinct species revival" makes intuitive sense to me and I am anxious to explore the food-web and niche theory that underlies it.
It seems that, once these projects leave the lab, de-extinction will be a grand scale project for ecological science. Being able to test theory against, as you put it, "resurgent" ecological dynamics will be very interesting.
Are you familiar with any ecologists or labs currently doing work you think is relevant to the de-extinction effort?

What are your thoughts on the Pleistocene Park project? How do you see the relationship between projects such as this and the de-extinction project?
Do you know of any other systems similarly dependent on an extinct ecosystem engineer that you are interested in rebuilding?

De-extinction is going to capture the minds and hearts of a lot of young scientists. I think the long term success of this project would be aided some clear articulation (maybe on the revive and restore page?) of the answer to the "What do I study to get involved?" question. A resource that provided suggested training paths (whether on the lab or ecological side of things), participating scientists and their work, etc would be valuable.

I am a student studying mathematics, ecology and evolution. I think the ecology involved in de-extinction is fascinating and I want to get involved.
How can I help?
or (more generally) how can ecologists get involved in de-extinction?
