While I doubt Victron would be willing to donate equipment to you, definitely give them a call when you're designing the PV system. Their CEO (https://github.com/mpvader) is incredibly down to earth and super interesting to talk to.

Most AC inverters designed for grid-tied (e.g. PV->Grid; SMA Sunny Island) or off-grid are pretty efficient. Victron's MultiPlus line has >92% maximum efficiency. Though admittedly I don't know the minimum efficiency and it's not published.
