Can you get hep c through sexual contact?

Is there any many cases of getting hep c through accidental needle sticks? I seem to remember a couple of cases that were thought be a number of years ago in Philadelphia fire.

Also, how resilient outside the body is hep c compared to HIV (which from my understanding is not very much at all?)
