Why did you go to NK a little over a month ago?

I'm on my second ileostomy, so I can probably give you a little more of an experienced review.

You eventually start learning patterns and "down time". My stoma is particularly active immediately after eating, and, unfortunately, in the middle of the night. It's on a pretty routine cycle. 8 hours after I eat a meal, said meal is making its exit. So naturally, lunch dinner are evacuated by about breakfast the next day, usually get a 6-8 hour reprieve in the morning which is when I'll generally do my bag changes/showers/other things that I don't particularly want farts being heard.

As far as pushing it out, goes, I CAN get some to come out voluntarily, but I only do that if I'm having a blockage at the stoma. Once the OP has his ileostomy reversal and learns how to poop "normal" again, he'll use muscles he's never used before, and those same muscles will be able to make it come out of his stoma, should he ever get one again. But for most first timers, many don't have that particular muscle strength yet.
