How long do you think it will take for the cyber security software market to mature?

Speaking with experience of particular cyber security products, they’ve consistently been found to be difficult to deploy, difficult to support, and flakey; so it isn’t an isolated challenge.

It’s a really disappointing position to be in. When I tell people “I work in cyber security”, people often look at me amazed. In the background, it is real mess, and a real chore to make progress.

You only have to look at the statistics to back this up - for example, normal IAM implementations are not successful first time round (sometimes second, too). They just flat-out fail, but never until you’ve poured millions in to it.

How do you stop yourself just saying “Sod it!” when the tougher times happen? Your story certainly puts some minor niggles which annoy me in to perspective!
