I work for a company that develops one of the major ATSs. Specifically I support the clients that use it. It's not uncommon for them to list your current location directly on the Candidate table so they can see who is local. We try to parse it off your resume automatically even when the initial application doesn't ask for it.

Have you considered not listing it at all, establishing a local address with a PO Box, or using an address of a relative? A quick search online in my area shows <$8/mo for a USPS box.
