Wow, that actually explains a lot about the service people receive in America.

Foreign carriers absolutely put FAs through the same rigorous training programs for safety, including martial arts and subduing people if necessary. But the difference is they understand for 99 percent of the time when it's not an emergency, customer service and attention to detail is what will get a customer to come again.

In America I definitely get this vibe that the FAs don't care and you don't have a choice because foreign carriers aren't allowed to compete on US domestic flights, so American consumers can go fuck themselves. I wish we could get laws passed and bring in Singapore, JAL, Cathay Pacific, and Etihad. I'd even pay a premium just to avoid our domestic flights.

My understanding is that the concierge/butlers serving the high end suites could get anything available in Vegas 24/7 for their VIP guest, including high-priced escorts, blow, speed, any food imaginable, etc. How true is this in your experience?

What I didn't like about the Yellow Rain interview was in quickly turned from an interview with a war survivor into an interrogation. It was a strange vibe and RK went on the attack. I usually don't expect such behavior from Radiolab. Most episodes are treated with wide-eyed wonder and sense of fun, which was clearly absent from that interview. The man didn't deserve to be attacked.

I also didn't appreciate the post-interview part where RK and Jad laughed at their story and dismissed the whole thing. It felt weird to just dismiss eyewitness testimony. Even if you have science on your side, you don't then use it as a bludgeon. It was insensitive, even if they were correct.

Thanks, that's cool to know. Somehow I feel like the guys would like the fact that the concierge is female so it's extra naughty.

He went into obscurity; the best trick of all.
