How does patenting strains work? Is that a possibility, or can you copyright a name for your strain?

Does anyone only play professional ultimate for their living? or is that not possible

They would need a male plant of the same strain. If you actually have something worth patenting, it's very hard to end up with a 'close enough' strain by crossing it with another.
